Got the travel mattress to go on top of our hard-bottom seat cover for our 10 year old Golden. He needed a bit more cushion on his hips for long drives, and the hard base on its own was a little firm for him. Fits perfect over the platform in our RAV4 and doesn’t bunch up or slide when he turns around. Worth the extra money to keep him comfortable.

Works great over the hard cover
Just took a 6 hour road trip with our two labs using this mattress over the hard seat protector. Makes the backseat so much more comfortable for them and they actually slept most of the way. Was worried it would get dirty fast with muddy paws at rest stops, but dirt brushed off pretty easily. Easy enough to take out when we need the backseat for human passengers too.

Fits great in our f150 over the hard bottom base. gives our pup a nice soft spot to lay without losing the extra floor space from the cover underneath. a little bulky to store in the trunk when not using it, but so far so good after 3 weeks of daily use.
